Guba town is located in picturesque corner of the Azerbaijan on northeast foothills of Shahdagh, at height of 600 m above the sea level in 170 kms. to the north from Baku. Hundreds peaks and mountain gorges, rocks of the unusual form, crystal-clear springs, never-ending chains of mountains and also rich fauna and flora create the fine landscapes, the analogue of which hardly could be found in other part of the Caucasus. There are some big mountains in the Guba region but the climbing on them is recommended to be carried out with skilled mountaineers and with necessary equipment. Majestic Shahdagh, covered with eternal snows and glaciers and surrounded with clouds could be seen from any point of area. The height of mountain is 4243 meter. Fertile fields, green woods and the comfortable leisure zones amazing with the beauty are spread on its foothills.

Guba first of all is a “capital of apples” of Azerbaijan. Besides apples pears, apricots, cherries, sweet cherries and plums are grown here. 12 sorts of pears and 35 sorts of plums, various sorts of apricots, peaches, cherries and sweet cherries are grown in this area.

The Guba carpets glorified by art performance are very popular outside Azerbaijan and decorate expositions of many known museums and private collections. Woven in 1772, the carpet “Goldu Chichi” now is in well-known museum “Metropolitan” of New-York, and it is considered to be one of its pearls.

During ancient times the Albanian tribes lived on this ground and one of them Kninalig, an ethnic group with the population more than 1000 person, living in the settlement Khynalig located in area of the Alpine meadows. Inhabitants of Khinalig have the original culture, language, traditions and ceremonies.

There are many historical monuments in the city and its suburbs: a tower of Zoroastrians in settlement Khinalig, the Juma-mosque (of XIX century), mosques of Sakina khanum and Ardebil (of XIX century), a bath in the form of a dome in Guba (of XIX century), the octahedral mausoleum in settlement Agbil (of XVI) and so on.
