Gusar town in 12 kms. from the Guba, the regional center of the same area. It is located on coast of the mountain river Gusar. In the north the Gusar region borders on Dagestan. Here like in the Guba region you can admire fine landscapes, mountain streams, running from dense forests. There are many sacred places (pirs) at the bottom of mountains and historical monuments. “Gusar” word derived from the name of tribe “Hi-sar”.

The Gusar is famous with its warm sunny weather, fine fresh mountain air. There are Alpine meadows, which mean abundance of high quality dairy products, especially cheese.

Mountains of Gusar region, presence of fine forests create fine facilities for tourism. Tourist routes for climbers and amateurs of active leisure pass in high mountains. Acquaintance with historical monuments is recommended to begin with survey of a mosque and the mausoleum of sheikh Dzhuneid (of XVI century, village of Khazra) which was the grandfather of the poet and shah Ismail I from the dynasty of Sefevids, outstanding statesman and the founder of the Azerbaijan Sefevid state.

Various historical monuments were preserved also in settlements Anikh, Gil, Imam-gulukend.

Today Gusar which is known for hospitality, simplicity and sincerity of the inhabitants meets thousand tourists which wish to discover for themselves a natural beauty both of significant historical and a cultural heritage of this area. Presently some tourist centers and the leisure centers and hotels were opened in the vicinities of the region.
